So I'm getting an Apple Watch. I asked my sister in Hong Kong to order one for me last month when it still said 2-4 weeks ship time. Went ahead with it and apparently it came in just about a week. My sister's trip to Bangkok won't be until another 3 weeks. This is so agonizing. It is right there and I cannot have it. Arrrgh.
Finally have it in my hand …. wrist. Whichever it is, the product itself is well built.
Second impression, just like every reviewer out there said - high build quality and so on. But this is not a review of the Apple Watch. This will be about my journey through the week with this new "Wearable" technology. Let's take it out for a spin.
Setting it up
Setting it up was also pretty straight forward.
- Turn the watch on,
- launch the Apple Watch app,
- Click on pair the apple watch button and point the rear camera at the watch face. Voilà.
In short, it's a breeze. Next.
Experiment #1
Putting it on. That's easy. Anything special about it? Not really. Not much different than when I put on a watch at around this price range.
Experiment #2
Taking a phone call on the Apple Watch - a success.
I was driving around looking for parking at a local shopping mall. A call came in, the watch buzzed. Instead of having to reach into my pocket for the phone or the Bluetooth headset I had stashed somewhere, I flipped my wrist so I can see the watch face, tap on the big green receive button. That's it. I'm talking. The voice quality was loud and clear, and I didn't even have to take my eyes off the road. Test passed.
More to come
